WEST VANCOUVER LAD GETS PROFESSIONAL TRIAL WITH BLACKBURN ROVERS

FC Victoria Technical Director, Dave Dew announced today that West Vancouver native, Michael Nonni, commenced a one week trial with Blackburn Rovers of the English Premier League earlier this week. He is currently training with the reserve team and will see playing time this Friday versus Manchester United Reserves.

"We secured a tryout for Michael after he was released by FC Groningen earlier this month", commented Dew. "We connected with Mike Rigg, the head scout for Blackburn. He immediately placed Nonni on a week long trial, based on our recommendation".

FC Victoria's Academy programs have evolved over the past five years with the roll out of a Professional Trials Program. Relationships established with UK based professional organizations are creating opportunities for eligible Canadian youths to realize their soccer dreams. "We have established a professional pathway for players who might not otherwise get the opportunity to pursue their soccer dreams", noted Marv Diercks, President of FC Victoria.

SCOTTISH LEGENDS SPEND WEEK WITH SUMMER TEAMS

Jbjune071

SOCCER WISDOM PASSED DOWN TO CANADIAN YOUTHS
FC Victoria's Summer Teams recently experienced a wee bit of Scottish soccer instruction from two of Hibernian's living legends earlier this month; John Blackley and John Brownlie. Both have capped for Scotland in international competition including appearances in World Cup competition.

Instruction provided explored some simple adjustments in angling for balls and adjustment in support. Both players and FC Victoria's coaching staff benefited from the visit. With thick Scottish accents bellowing instruction, the players had to be attentive and made effort to show off their talents to the duo.
